• Mrs. Salm

     Hello!

I am Emily Salm, Gibraltar's High School art teacher. I teach Art I, Art II, Art III, Art IV, and Photography. This is my first year as the high school art teacher. The past four years I taught art at the middle school level. The wonderful students that walk through my door every day have made this transition extremely positive.

I am a graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I have a BS in Art Education k-12 and an additional certification in Art in Exceptional Education. Before coming to Gibraltar, I taught art in Holmen, Milwaukee and Madison.

I live in Sister Bay with my husband, Paul, and our four children. We own the Cornerstone Pub in Baileys Harbor and the Door County Fire Company in Sturgeon Bay. We love living in Door County. Hiking, kayaking, biking, and snowshoeing are some of the many activities we enjoy.

When I have free time, I love drawing and painting. I particularly enjoy painting recycled windows--the glass becomes my canvas. I add collage elements, cut glass, stones and other recycled materials that I feel will add interest to the piece. Some of my windows are for sale at Chef's Hat Cafe in Ephraim and at Tangled Salon in Sister Bay.

Art inspires me everyday. I hope my love and appreciation for the arts energizes the students I teach. I can't wait to see all of the incredible work that unfolds this year!
